Zone 126 Stands In Solidarity With the AAPI Community

Over the last year, all across our nation, we have seen a rise in hate crimes against the Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) community. During the month of March, we saw countless incidents that have made many of us shake our heads in disgust and have led many of us to weep for humanity as a whole.

Our organization is deeply saddened by these incidents fueled by a hatred that we strongly believe has no place in our city, let alone our country. The divisive behavior carried out by a select few will not outshine the goodness of many that comprises the fabric of our great nation.

Zone 126’s mission is to ensure every child currently living in public housing has the education and skills needed to graduate from high school prepared for college or the workforce, and to enter the 21st century equipped with the tools needed to thrive. Our work is focused around supporting the whole child from cradle to college to career, no matter their race or gender orientation. We are dedicated to leveling the playing field for our community’s most marginalized groups.

As Desmond Tutu once said, “If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor.” Today and everyday we stand in support of our fellow citizens who are a part of the AAPI community. We stand against hate and violence and pledge to be an ally at all times with all human beings.

In Unity & Justice For All
